McLAREN 720S SPIDER
McLaren describes the 720S Spider as "a convertible supercar that's every bit as thrilling as the Coupe," bringing you the same nerve tingling performance with the added drama of open-air driving.
Built around the ultra-light and rigid Monocage II S carbon fiber tub, the 720S Spider forgoes extra structural reinforcement thanks to its integral rollover protection. Every aspect of its sculpted exterior—like the dihedral (butterfly) doors and glazed flying buttresses—is both beautifully sculptural and inherently functional: aiding aerodynamic efficiency, cooling, driver visibility, and downforce.
The electrically actuated Retractable Hard Top lowers or raises in just 11 seconds, even at speeds up to 50 km/h, and is available with an optional electrochromic glass panel that can shift between transparent and tinted states.
Powered by a mid-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the 720S Spider boasts 720 PS (710 bhp) and 770 Nm (568 Lb-ft) of torque—identical to the coupe—delivering blistering acceleration and top-tier performance.
The Monocage II‑S chassis provides exceptional feedback and agility, while the Proactive Chassis Control II adaptive suspension offers selectable modes—Comfort, Sport, Track—that transform the car from a composed daily driver to a razor‑sharp track machine.
At a dry weight of just 1,332 kg (2,937 lbs.), the Spider is only about 49 kg heavier than the coupe—still among the lightest in its class. Storage is practical too: 150 liters in the front, 58 liters behind the seats, with a cleverly integrated tonneau cover that sits lower than previous models—boosting rear visibility and usability.
The Spider's flowing lines aren't just for show—they optimize airflow, minimize drag, and manage heat through features like air‑channeling dihedral doors and flying buttresses that enhance engine cooling and aerodynamic performance.
The McLaren 720S Spider is "the most accomplished convertible supercar ever", offering a finely tuned blend of breathtaking performance, convertible elegance, daily usability, and advanced engineering—all without compromise.
