Over its 68-year lifespan the original air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle has come in many specifications, but the most prized examples are the original Type 1 cars, denoted by their distinctive split oval rear window. A 1949 update to the original design added the option of an export model with enhanced interior trim and chrome bumpers, with hydraulic brakes and an optional sunroof with textile cover available in 1950. A 1953 update simplified the rear window by removing the split to create a single oval, which would last until a larger full-width rear window became standard in 1958. The most faithful to the original concept, these early Type 1 cars are increasingly difficult to find in original and unmolested condition, especially with rare factory options.

This 1951 example belongs to the most collectable Beetle models range, the Split-Windows. Equipped with the thought after textile sunroof, this Beetle has been delivered new in Wuppertal and was registered in Dortmund in July 1954.

Kept by its second owner until 1980 when he sold the Beetle to the current owner. Since then, in the owner's collection, we have traces of maintenance in 2018 and 2019. In static display since, the car would need recommissioning prior to being driven.

Offered with its original Kraftfahrzeugbrief; Abmeldebescheinigung; purchase invoice from 1980; Betriebs-anleitung; invoices from 2018/2019, this is a true collector car for any Käfer Lover.
