1974 Triumph 749cc T150V Trident
Registration no. not registered (see text)
Frame no. T150V DJ41756
Engine no. T150V CH03585

Essentially a 'Tiger-and-a-half', the Triumph and BSA 750 triples were launched in the UK in 1969, just in time to be up-staged by Honda's four-cylinder CB750. Differences between the Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket 3 were more than just cosmetic: the two models used different frames and in BSA guise the motor featured an inclined cylinder block. Only the Trident survived the group's collapse in 1972, continuing as the T150V (with five-speed gearbox) and later the T160 (using the BSA-type engine). Today these charismatic British motorcycles enjoy an enthusiastic following worldwide and are served by a most enthusiastic owners' club: the TR3OC.

This Trident's frame dates from 1974 while the engine formed part of a machine despatched to Baltimore, USA in May 1973. The Triumph was purchased by the current vendor last year from the previous owner who had owned it since 1992. The previous owner had dismantled the bike ready for restoration but never got around to it. The current vendor has put it together (though some minor parts appear to be missing) but the machine will need thorough checking and/or further restoration before returning to the road (the engine turns over). The vendor has applied to the DVLA for a UK registration and it is hoped that one will have been issued by time of sale. Offered with dating certificate and NOVA.
