LOT 382

1983 Ducati 900 S2 Registration no. A110 RWW Frame no. DM860SS*092409* Engine no. 907041 DM860

Estimate: £8,000 - £12,000

1983 Ducati 900 S2
Registration no. A110 RWW
Frame no. DM860SS*092409*
Engine no. 907041 DM860

Built during the 1982, 1983 and 1984 seasons only, the 900 S2 was intended to replace the long-running and immensely successful 900 SS model. The main innovation on the S2 was electric starting, although some (early) bikes had kickstarts only, some had kickstarts and electric starters, and some electric starting only! There were also two different types of crankcase used. The 900 S2 was readily identifiable by its new cockpit fairing, taken from the Pantah 600 SL and adapted to accommodate the electric start motor. Only 1,236 were made over the course of three years production, making the 900 S2 one of the rarer bevel drive twins.

This electric-start-only 900 S2 was purchased from Anthony Godin in September 2022. The current odometer reading is 64,326 kilometres, the same as it was at time of purchase three years ago. The machine is now being sold due to a lack of space and will require recommissioning before returning to the road. The V5C states the Ducati has three former keepers. The date of first UK registration is recorded as 26th June 2016. Accompanying paperwork includes the 2022 purchase receipt; photocopy old V5C; NOVA and DVLA correspondence; MoT certificates; sundry invoices; and marque-related literature.
