1951 BMW 594cc R67
Registration no. WXS 588 (see text)
Frame no. 610427
Engine no. 610427

• Single family ownership since 1986
• BMW club dating letter
• Will need recommissioning/restoration

BMW first post-war twin-cylinder model was the R51/2 based, on the pre-war R51. Improvements included a two-way damped front fork, a gearbox mainshaft damper, and a strengthened frame. There was also a 594cc R67 version, intended primarily for sidecar duty, which was swiftly superseded by the more powerful R67/2 for 1952.
Displaying a tax disc that expired in May 1971, this R67 has enjoyed single family ownership since 1986 when the vendor's father bought it. The BMW was kept garaged until 2021 when the fuel lines and carburettor floats were replaced and the oil changed. It was then started and ridden around the block, reportedly running well, and was then returned to the garage. The current odometer reading is 70,242 miles. Ownership passed to our vendor in September 2022, which is when the BMW was last run. Disappointingly, the DVLA would not permit retention of the original registration ('MNE 742', still on the machine today) and issued the age-related mark 'WXS 588'. The machine will need recommissioning/restoration to a greater or lesser extent following an extended period of inactivity and thus is sold strictly as viewed. Accompanying documents include a V5C Registration Certificate, BMW Club dating letter, and the 1986 purchase agreement. Offered with a BMW workshop manual, petrol tank key and headlamp key.
