1932 Velocette 348cc KTS MK I
Registration no. SS 6426
Frame no. T1736 (see text)
Engine no. KSS 4236

SS 6426 has been owned by a father and son from the same family since the 1960s, when the father found the machine in a poor condition and renovated it. The ownership passed to the son, around 1976, and he has kept the Velo ever since. It was originally registered with the Stirling registration WG 1253, but early in his ownership the latest owner transferred the present registration, SS 6426, onto it. It was used over subsequent years, along with other bikes, on a fairly regular basis, until, in 2011, he felt the machine was in need of a general overhaul, and it was despatched to Velocette guru Martin Arscott who carried out various works, including complete gearbox strip/rebuild, clutch strip/rebuild, oil pump rebuild, a new replacement Amal carburettor, plus other adjustments.

Correspondence and bills on file refer to this work (in which the owner mentions the Velo as 'a family heirloom'). In late 2013 the owner gave the Velocette to Chris Odling Engineering for assessment and work, which mainly resulted in a strip and rebuild of the front forks (invoice on file). SS 6426 was then used occasionally, along with other machines until the timing slipped in 2024. Not used since, it will therefore require re-timing, a degree of re-commissioning, and safety checks prior to use by a new owner. A quantity of spares is included with the machine, including a magneto (condition unknown). It should be noted that the V5C records the frame number as 1736, which omits the T prefix. Documentation comprises a current V5C, an old V5, a green duplicate VE60 log book, the aforementioned correspondence, and a quantity of invoices.
