1992 Honda VRF400 Type NC30
Registration no. TMN 984 B (Isle of Man)
Frame no. NC30 1103747
Engine no. not visible

Following the arrival of the VFR750R (RC30) race replica in the late 1980s, it was only to be expected that some of its style and technology would rub off on Honda's smaller V4s. The first of these was the NC21, which was followed by the NC24 with RC30-style single-sided swinging arm. Restricted to a maximum of 59PS (59.8bhp) for the Japanese market, these models were not officially imported into the UK, unlike the successor NC30 which boasted a specification not far short of the RC's. Testing a full power (62.5bhp) UK model, Bike magazine recorded a top speed into a strong headwind of 122.7mph, 1,000 revs short of the red line, indicating a probable maximum in excess of 130. Boasting RC30 looks and equally exemplary build quality, but at a fraction of the cost, the NC30 is one of the most collectible classics of the 1990s.

Imported from Japan, this example was first registered in the Isle of Man in 1996 and currently displays a total of 30,780 kilometres (19,127 miles) on the odometer. Owned by the current vendor since 2008, the Honda was used regularly until COVID-19 struck. In March 2025 the machine was treated to a full cosmetic restoration by H&H Motorcycles of Douglas, Isle of Man, a firm with considerable experience in the race preparation and restoration of these V4 Hondas. This most extensive refurbishment cost £8,273, as evidenced by H&H's detailed invoice on file (perusal recommended). The machine is offered with an Isle of Man registration document. The provision of LED headlight bulbs is the only notified deviation from factory specification (original bulbs supplied).

It should be noted this motorcycle originates from the Isle of Man. If purchased by a UK resident, the Isle of Man Registration Document will need to be submitted with a DVLA application (V55/5), along with a valid MOT certificate to the DVLA to obtain a UK Registration Certificate.
