The arrival of the iconic 916 in 1994 that really captured the public's imagination. Styled by Massimo Tamburini, the 916 and its subsequent evolutions established Ducati as one of the world's foremost brand names. Universally recognised as icons of automotive art, Ducati motorcycles have been exhibited in some of the world's foremost museums, including the Guggenheim in New York and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco.
First registered on 3rd October 1995, this 916S Biposto comes with its original service booklet revealing that it was sold new to a Mr Robert Rowland of West Byfleet, Surrey by Frontiers Ducati in London. The booklet has been stamped regularly up to 13th March 2003 at 4,693 miles and is annotated 'belt change at 8,600 miles' (undated). It is not known when the belts were last changed or the last service carried out, though there is an invoice on file for a change of belts issued by Premier Bikes of Didcot dated June 2005 at 6,251 miles.
Unused for a considerable length of time (it carries a tax disc expiring in September 2014), the machine is presented in age related condition with some furring, alloy corrosion and lacquer peel throughout, and would benefit from detailing. The Ducati will also require careful recommissioning, including a belt service, before further use hence no attempt has been made to start the machine and its condition remains unknown, hence it is sold strictly as viewed. Notable features include Termignoni carbon silencers and Ducati Racing magnesium alloy wheels. The original exhaust system, front mudguard, hugger and some other standard parts accompany the machine.
Our vendor acquired the Ducati, which has had six former keepers, from Mr Edward Hawkins of Weymouth on 22nd August 2015 (sales receipt on file). An old V5C lists the keeper immediately prior to Mr Hawkins as Mr Stephen Drake of Southampton, who had purchased 'N327 HGH' from Mr Paul Risi on 19th April 2006 (sales receipt on file). The most recent MoT was issued on 18th June 2015 at 17,226 miles (current total 17,258 miles). The machine is offered with a current V5C, an HPI report, some old MoTs, a Haynes workshop manual, key and fobs.
