One of the most popular of all off-road specials, the Greeves-Triumph (or 'Tri-Greeves') has over the years established itself as a marque in its own right. Greeves' two-stroke-engined trials irons were among the most competitive of their day, but although the chassis was widely recognised as among the best there were many riders unwilling to put up with the stroker's sometimes wayward temperament. The obvious solution was to fit a four-stroke engine, and as Triumph's compact 350cc and 500cc twins were a relatively easy fit, they rapidly became the power unit of choice for those wishing to combine the excellent handling characteristics of the Greeves frame with a torquey four-stroke motor.

This example's major components consist of the frame from a Greeves Challenger scrambler dating from 1966 and a Triumph T100R engine dating from December 1969. Presented in nicely restored condition, the machine features Borrani alloy wheel rims (21" front; WM3 18" rear); Hagon shock absorbers; and Electrex World electronic ignition (instructions included). Our vendor purchased the machine from a family friend whose father had built it; apart from that no history is known. A spare tank and spare top yoke accompany the machine. There are no documents. Following a period of inactivity, the machine will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent and is therefore sold strictly as viewed.
