The Robert Lusk Motorcycle Collection
1963 MV Agusta 150cc Sport
Registration no. unregistered
Frame no. MVRS*856159*
Engine no. MV-RS-856231

"The Italian Highway Code, introduced in 1959, brought the 150 back into fashion, as it forbade access to the motorway system to vehicles with cylinder capacities of less than 150 cm³. The MV 150 (which had an effective capacity of 150.1 cm³ and was therefore allowed to travel on the motorways) was very similar in appearance to the 125 cm³." – Colombo & Patrignani, MV Agusta.

Although best known for their racing and four-cylinder road machines, MV Agusta produced lightweights throughout its history, including small two-strokes and even a scooter. Following the launch of its first production four-stroke – a 175cc overhead-camshaft single – MV introduced the overhead-valve Gran Turismo 125 in 1954. Similar small-capacity models followed, with the first 150cc versions appearing in 1959. Like their larger siblings, these little machines were costly: at around £200, the Turismo Rapido was priced as high as a British 500, explaining why so few were sold in the UK.

This unrestored 1963 150cc Sport was recorded as having 397km on the odometer and retains an attractive patina. Imported in 1985 by Frank Melling and with the original 'pink' import documentation, it was largely untouched until purchased by Robert in 2011. Described at the time as running "like a clock" it is offered for careful preservation and conservation.

Prospective buyers should please note that whilst Robert actively started and maintained his collection, all machines are offered as requiring recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent.
