The Robert Lusk Motorcycle Collection, Moto Rumi 125cc Turismo '3 Marce'

The Robert Lusk Motorcycle Collection
Moto Rumi 125cc Turismo '3 Marce'
Registration no. Unregistered
Frame no. 8181
Engine no. B0569

The Rumi Turismo 3 Marce (3-speed) was the first motorcycle launched by the Bergamo factory in 1950. Powered by Rumi's distinctive 125cc parallel-twin two-stroke with horizontally opposed cylinders, the Turismo marked the beginning of Donnino Rumi's post-war transition from armaments production to lightweight motorcycles of remarkable engineering quality.

This example comes from the very first series, distinguished by its elegant chromed petrol tank. Fully restored to a high standard, it remains in excellent running condition and represents one of the purest and most original examples of Rumi's debut road-going motorcycle.

It formed part of the collection of former Rumi employee and noted racer/collector Lino Cornago, who preserved and restored many significant machines from the marque's history. Purchased by Robert in November 2007, the Turismo has since been carefully kept within his collection.

Offered with an Italian registration document dating from 1961 for the Brescia registration, 'BS 31997'. UK buyers should note that a NOVA 1 declaration will be required, followed by an application for UK registration.

A significant machine both historically and mechanically, the Turismo '3 Marce' is a must-have for the dedicated Rumi enthusiast or collector of post-war Italian lightweights.

Prospective buyers should please note that whilst Robert actively started and maintained his collection, all machines are offered as requiring recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent.
