The Robert Lusk Motorcycle Collection
1975 Honda 72cc ST70 Dax
Registration no. MGH 581P
Frame no. ST70-148990
Engine no. ST70E-144885

Honda's charming ST-series 'Dax' minibikes were named after the elongated backbone frame, said to resemble a dachshund. Combining practicality with a playful aesthetic, the Dax became a cult favourite worldwide, particularly in Europe and Japan, where it was as popular with commuters as it was with leisure riders. Powered by Honda's bulletproof 72cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine with three-speed semi-automatic gearbox, the ST70 is both user-friendly and endlessly characterful.
This example shows only 1,430 miles on the odometer and was purchased by Robert from a Brooks auction in November 1996, where it was offered on behalf of the original owner. It was subsequently enjoyed by Robert and his son Chester as a pit bike when campaigning – a reminder of its intended mix of practicality and fun. The history file includes a photocopy of the old-style V5, V5C and several MoT certificates from the mid-1980s to early 1990s which support the low mileage.

Prospective buyers should please note that whilst Robert actively started and maintained his collection, all machines are offered as requiring recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent.
