Believed to have covered only 8,325 miles from new
1964 Honda CB160
Registration no. JUX 183D
Frame no. B160-1005593
Engine no. B160E-1005263

Launched in 1964, the CB160 followed the pattern of previous Honda parallel twins, though with 360-degree crankshaft layout rather than the larger twins' 180-degree type, and used the recently introduced tubular spine frame and telescopic forks. Small as a '125' yet packing a 16.5bhp punch, the CB160's excellent power-to-weight ratio and fine handling endowed it with performance at least equal to that of most British 250s. With an overhead-camshaft engine, electric starter, rev counter and a twin-leading-shoe front brake, the CB160's specification and degree of refinement was unmatched by any its home-grown rivals. It is now one of the most desirable of early Japanese classics. As was Honda's standard practice at the time, there was also a CL street scrambler version with upswept crossover exhaust system.

This tidy looking example currently displays a total of only 8,325 miles on the odometer and appears to be highly original. The accompanying V5C document states that there have been two previous keepers, and the machine also comes with a Honda dating letter; owner's manual; and a sales invoice from Cope's of Birmingham to Mr Raymond Smith of Stirchley, Birmingham (dated 1967). Described by the vendor as 'sounding like new' it really appealed to him because of 'it's lightness, performance, lack of oil leaks and reliability'. A Cope's suppliers plaque is fitted to the front mudguard.
