1951 AJS 348cc Model 16 Trials
Registration no. OUB 704
Frame no. 3030/C
Engine no. 51/16M S 13868 (see text)

AJS's 350cc Model 16C was the competition version of the firm's well-proven single, derived from the wartime G3 but fitted with a strengthened frame, increased ground clearance and other improvements to suit trials and scrambles use. Its rugged overhead-valve engine and sure-footed handling quickly made it a favourite among clubmen and privateers.

The example offered here dates from 1951 and the vendor advises us it is presented in smart, usable condition. It features competition-style equipment including an alloy fuel tank, upswept exhaust and knobbly tyres. Recent work includes the fitment of new tyres, clutch plates, spark plug and lead, a new kick-start spring, and new gasket. The vendor describes the machine as being in good order throughout. At some point in the machines history it has had an engine change to the current unit. This is not recorded on the V5C or on HPi.

Accompanying documentation includes a continuation logbook showing ownership from 1961, a hand-written list of recently fitted parts, a photocopy of a workshop manual, and V5C. A handsome and practical example of AJS's popular trials model, ready to enjoy on green lanes, at classic trials events, or as a characterful addition to a collection.
