c.1932 Velocette 349cc KTP Project
Registration no. not registered
Frame no. unable to locate
Engine no. KA 462

By the early 1920s it had become apparent to Veloce Limited that a more up-market model was required to supplement their existing two-stroke range. Other manufacturers were fielding new overhead-valve and overhead-camshaft machines, and Veloce followed suit, the Percy Goodman-designed, overhead-cam Model K appearing in 1924. Of 348cc, the new engine employed a single overhead camshaft driven by a vertical shaft and bevel gears, and was unusual in having a very narrow crankcase, an arrangement determined by the existing transmission and frame design, but which nevertheless made for a stiff crankshaft assembly. This would be developed into the KTT over-the-counter racer, and by the end of the 1920s there were also two roadsters in the range: the sporting KSS and touring KTP, the latter a twin-port model fitted with coil ignition. The KTP did not last long, being replaced for 1932 by the KTS.

A relatively rare model, this 'barn find' Velocette KTP has been laid up in a shed for many years and is offered for restoration. Thee are no documents with this Lot, which is sold strictly as seen. No history is known.
