The Suzuki RG250 Gamma Walter Wolf Edition is an exceptionally rare and sought-after sports bike, widely regarded as one of the most desirable iterations of Suzuki's legendary RG250 Gamma series. Developed in collaboration with Canadian motorsport magnate Walter Wolf, this limited-edition model boasts true racing pedigree.
At its heart lies a 249cc liquid-cooled, two-stroke parallel-twin engine, delivering around 45bhp. Tipping the scales at just 130kg, it was one of the lightest and most advanced 250cc bikes of its era. Its aluminium twin-spar frame, full fairing, and sophisticated Full Floater rear suspension made for razor-sharp handling and a thrilling ride. Often dubbed a scaled-down version of the legendary RG500 Grand Prix racer, the Walter Wolf Edition set itself apart with an exclusive black, red, and gold livery, complete with Walter Wolf branding. Today, it remains a prized collector's machine, epitomising the golden age of high-performance two-strokes.
This 1987 example displays just 7,003km (4,352 miles) on the odometer, having been acquired by its current private owner at auction in March 2022 with 6,568km recorded. A previous owner, a private collector in Romsey, Hampshire, purchased it from Phil's Motorcycle Mall Ltd, Bournemouth, in November 2019.
Accompanying documents include an V5C Registration Certificate, a photocopy old V5C, purchase receipts from 2019 (£5,295) and 2022 (£6,292), DVLA registration correspondence from January 2019, and a NOVA acknowledgement. There are multiple MoT certificates (the first UK MoT was issued on 7 Jan 2016 at 5,653km), a 2019 Metric Motorcycles service sheet, and a Japanese Light Vehicle Registration Certificate from Bike King Co Ltd of Tokyo. A VJMC Dating Letter confirms its 1987 manufacture for the Japanese domestic market. Additional paperwork includes technical printouts, a 2020 invoice for a YSS shock absorber, and display texts from the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show and Salisbury MC Club.
The V5C confirms two former UK keepers since its first UK registration on 1 January 2019, verified by the HPI Certificate. Recently MoT'd (valid until 11 March 2026), it started on the first kick upon delivery to Bonhams (see running video). Presenting in good, age-related condition, it would benefit from detailing and minor cosmetic refinements. The nearside lower fairing shows some heat-related warping, hence close inspection is advised and the motorcycle is sold strictly as viewed.
