THE FORD RAPTOR R

In 2010, Ford's high-performance SVT division unveiled a fresh new take on the sport truck. Up to this point, definitively street oriented trucks like the Ford Lightning, Chevy 454 SS, and the bonkers Dodge Ram SRT 10 were the main options for buyers. For the F150 Raptor, SVT made a sharp contrast to the Lightning, taking a page from the Trophy Trucks made famous at events like the Baja 1000. These pumped up, tube-frame beasts are built to tackle unpredictable desert terrain at triple-digit speeds, thanks to their trick, long-travel suspension and screaming V8 engines.

Thankfully, the Raptor was no mere "badge and sticker package." It was extensively redesigned to handle high-performance off roading. The Raptor features long-travel A-arm suspension, special Fox Racing remote reservoir dampers, huge BF Goodrich KO tires, and a Trophy Truck-inspired widebody treatment – necessary as the Raptor is a full seven inches wider than standard. With an optional 411bhp V8 on the original version, the Raptor was designed to be as fast off road as it was on, and as evidenced by its sales success, SVT got the formula right from the word go.

The third generation Raptor arrived in 2021, with standard trucks coming with a not-insignificant 450bhp 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. Meanwhile, over at FCA/Stellantis, the Ram TRX hit the trails, with a headline-stealing 700bhp Hellcat V8. Not wanting to be outdone, Ford responded with the astonishing Raptor R, powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged 'Carnivore' V8 from the Shelby GT500. Packing 700bhp and 645lb-ft of torque, an even racier 5-link coil-sprung rear axle, and special details, the Raptor R shows the original is still the best, and that the one that started the modern 'supertruck' category is still the one to beat.

THE TRUCK OFFERED

Offered from The Orange Collection is this burly and brutish 2023 Ford F150 Raptor R. It has been sparingly used since joining the collection and is offered in excellent condition, having covered a mere 320 miles from new to the time of cataloguing. The accompanying window sticker shows the all-important 802A equipment group option – a $30,575 extra that includes that mighty supercharged Carnivore V8, transforming the already impressive standard Raptor into a outright beast. It is finished in Code Orange Metallic and is equipped with black leather and Alcantara Recaro seats, with orange stitching and Raptor R graphics inside and out. Other options include the twin-panel moon roof, power tailgate, and tailgate step. The clean CARFAX report shows ownership in Wisconsin, California, and Illinois.

With exceptionally low miles and presented in excellent condition throughout, this astonishing supertruck is ready for whatever you can throw at it – from towing, to hauling, to sailing over the 'whoops' at breakneck speed and hassling supercars between traffic lights (within posted speed limits, naturally), the incredible 700bhp Raptor R can do it all.
