With its pretty Pininfarina-designed monocoque body, double wishbone suspension, and zippy twin cam motor, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider is the quintessential Italian sports car. With the launch of the new Giulia Berlina and Coupé in 1962, Alfa Romeo refreshed the existing 101-series Giulietta Spider with a larger 1570cc motor (up from 1290cc), five-speed all-synchromesh transmission, and front disc brakes.
Identified externally by its bulged bonnet to clear the larger engine's taller block, and nomenclature changed to align with the new saloon, the Giulia Spider 1600 continued to define la dolce vita well into the 1960s.
Wearing a tasteful combination of dark grey over burgundy interior, this left-hand drive specification Giulia Spider 1600 presents lovely (see photographic condition report). Imported from the US, the car seems to have been professionally restored some time ago. Quick, light and fun – the Giulia Spiders, with 5-speed gearbox, front disc-brakes and the ever-willing DOHC 1.6-litre Alfa engine, remain without doubt one of the nicest affordable sports cars. Believed to be one of just 286 examples built in the final year of production, this lovely Giulia is on the button and ready to be used.
The car comes with a Belgian registration document and an old US title from the state of California.
