1927 Renault KZ

1927 Renault KZ
Chassis no. 481134

• Elegant limousine coachwork
• Barn find condition
• Will require full restoration
• A charming pre-war French vintage Renault

The Renault KZ was introduced in 1923, with the luxury offering replacing the French marque's GS model. A 2120cc inline four-cylinder motor with three-speed manual transmission completed the mechanical package, with that distinctive bullnose front end and pressed steel wheels screaming 1920s modernity. The KZ would evolve through five iterations during its eight year production run, with the chassis underpinning everything from limousines, open-top tourers and even light trucks. It was succeeded in 1931 by the Primaquatre, a vehicle borrowing much mechanically from the KZ but bringing the body styling firmly into the 1930s.

This 1927 build KZ is specified in right-hand drive and wears elegant limousine coachwork with a separate rear luggage compartment, and a numbered chassis identification plate confirms its completion by Carrosserie Renault. The black bodywork features handsome burgundy detailing, with a luxuriously trimmed rear passenger compartment. A chassis plate from Renault's Boulogne-Billancourt plant is stamped 481134, which matches an old French registration document dated December 1954. A past owner's profession and location in Pont-Eveque, near Lyon, listed on the document matches a charming brass plaque mounted to the dash. The KZ is in barn find condition, and while the vehicle seems complete, it will require restoration.
