1972 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL

1972 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL
Chassis no. 107044-12-007911

• Early build R107
• Eye-catching colour combination
• USA specification car
• 4.5-litre V8 automatic

Launched in 1971 and in production for 18 years, few cars have the longevity of the elegant Mercedes-Benz R107 SL. Nothing else blends performance, safety, and quality quite like the R107 does; it is the archetypical Mercedes-Benz experience. Over two-thirds of the 300,000 R107s built went to North America, and a quarter of them were 450 SLs, with the smooth M117 4520cc V8. The high levels of quality and safety make the R107 an eminently usable classic, at home in any collection.

In a striking sand beige over brown combination, this North American specification 450SL predates the 1974 introduction of impact bumpers, at a time when a V8 was not available in a European specification R107. The file includes two keys, an old Belgian registration document, and technical inspection reports from 2009, 2011, and 2013. The 450SL will require servicing and recommissioning prior to use.
