Introduced for 1949, the 247cc Gambalunghino (little long leg) was based on the pre-war Albatros racer, sharing the same basic frame, single-overhead-camshaft engine, and four-speed gearbox. Using a developed version of an already proven design enabled Guzzi to get the better of the opposition, and Bruno Ruffo duly brought the inaugural 250cc World Championship back to Mandello del Lario at the season's end. Dario Ambrosini and Benelli took the 250-class honours the following year but Guzzi bounced back immediately, Ruffo taking the Championship in 1951 and Enrico Lorenzetti in 1952. This Gambalunghino is offered with a selection of photographs and copy ACI paperwork.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.

Présentée pour l'année 1949, la 247 cc Gambalunghino (la petite aux longues jambes) dérivait de l'Albatros de course d'avant la guerre, avec laquelle elle partageait le cadre de base, le moteur à simple arbre à cames en tête et la boîte à quatre rapports. Le recours à une version améliorée de cette conception éprouvée permit à Guzzi de surpasser ses concurrents, et Bruno Ruffo apporta à la firme de Mandello del Lario la victoire à la fin du premier Championnat du monde des 250. Dario Ambrosini et Benelli triomphèrent l'année suivante en 250, mais Guzzi rebondit immédiatement avec les victoires de Ruffo au Championnat de 1951 et d'Enrico Lorenzetti à celui de 1952. Cette Gambalunghino est proposée avec un choix de photos et une copie de ses documents de l'ACI.
