The 175cc class was important in continental Europe and Mondial's 125 was duly bored-out to achieve the required extra capacity. Revving to 9,000rpm, it produced 20bhp-plus. Riding one of the new 175cc singles, rising star Tarquinio Provini won the arduous eight-day 1,989-mile Giro d'Italia in 1954 to start his debut season as a works rider in fine style.

The vendor advises that this 175cc Mondial is an ex-Provini machine, although there is no documentary evidence to support that claim. The machine features Oldani magnesium brakes and is believed to have been restored. No documents.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.

La catégorie 175 cc étant importante en Europe continentale, le 125 de Mondial fut réalésé pour lui assurer le supplément de cylindrée attendu. Il délivrait plus de 20 ch à 9 000 tr/min. C'est sur l'une de ces nouvelles monocylindres de 175 cc que l'étoile montante Tarquinio Provini remporta en 1954 l'exigeant Giro d'Italia, soit 3 200 km couverts en huit jours ; il débuta ainsi avec brio sa saison de pilote d'usine.

Son vendeur nous informe que cette Mondial 175 cc a été celle de Provini, mais il n'y a pas de preuve écrite qui étaye cette affirmation. Sa moto est équipée de freins Oldani en magnésium ; on pense qu'elle a été restaurée. Pas de documents disponibles.

De même que tous les lots de cette vente, ce lot est vendu "en l'état et à l'endroit où il se trouve" et les enchérisseurs doivent en vérifier la provenance, l'état, l'âge, la complétude et l'authenticité avant d'enchérir.
