Gilera's 'V' family of four-stroke singles was in production from 1935 to 1941, all sharing the same basic cycle parts and long-stroke sidevalve engine. A girder fork served as the front suspension, while for the first time at the rear there was Gilera's newly patented boxed-spring-and-friction-damper arrangement. The Sei Giorni (Six Days) referred to Gilera's first major international victory in the International Six Days Trial of 1930, held at Grenoble, France, a feat it repeated at Merano in 1931. Apparently an older restoration the VL 500 Sei Giorni offered here comes with old Italian registration paperwork.

As with all Lots in the Sale, this Lot is sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.

Les monocylindres quatre-temps Gilera de la famille V furent produites de 1935 à 1941 ; toutes partageaient les mêmes pièces de la partie cycle ainsi qu'un moteur à longue course, à soupapes latérales. Leur suspension avant faisait appel à une fourche à parallélogramme et, à l'arrière, apparaissait pour la première fois l'ensemble ressort enfermé et amortisseur à friction que Gilera venait de breveter. Le nom de Sei Giorni (six jours) faisait référence à la première grande victoire internationale que Gilera avait remportée à Grenoble en 1930 lors des six jours de l'International Six Days Trial, exploit qui fut répété en 1931 à Merano. La VL 500 Sei Giorni proposée, apparemment autrefois restaurée, est munie d'anciens documents d'immatriculation italiens.

De même que tous les lots de cette vente, ce lot est vendu "en l'état et à l'endroit où il se trouve" et les enchérisseurs doivent en vérifier la provenance, l'état, l'âge, la complétude et l'authenticité avant d'enchérir.
