Launched in Pininfarina-bodied two-seater Spider form at the 1966 Turin Show, the FIAT Dino carried its 2.0-litre, Ferrari derived V6 engine ahead of the driver in conventional manner, and was notable as the first FIAT to employ four overhead camshafts and a limited-slip differential as standard. 160hp was on offer from an engine revving to 8,000rpm. Steel bodied, the newcomer employed a FIAT five-speed gearbox and featured independent front suspension by means of wishbones and coil springs, a live rear axle, and disc brakes all round.
This early FIAT Dino Spider has the lightweight all-aluminium 2.0-litre engine (the later 2.4-litre engines had cast-iron blocks). It is finished in Verde with cream interior. The car was purchased by the current owner in 2015 from a French auction, at which time the odometer reading was noted as 31,667km, it is currently reading 31,684 implying that the car has seen little use over the past 10 years. The car spent many years in the United Kingdom, having 5 owners there between 1979 and 2013 when it was sold to Belgium, the final keeper in the UK kept the car from 1989 until 2013. The car comes with a certificate of Identification for Imported Vehicles in Compliance with a French National Type delivered by Fiat France.
Please note that if this vehicle is sold to a French private buyer or an EU private individual the reduced rate of Import VAT at 5.5% will be charged on the hammer price. The Import VAT will be invoiced to you by our custom broker who will also charge a clearance fee. If you buy as a Trader or Company however, the Finances Publiques will charge you directly (based on our customs broker clearance) and the French VAT Import Charges will not appear on your Bonhams invoice. Dévoilé sous forme de spider à carrosserie Pininfarina au Salon de Turin en 1966, la Fiat Dino recevait le moteur V6 2 litres dérivé de Ferrari de façon conventionnel à l'avant et se distinguait pour être la première Fiat dotée d'un moteur à quatre arbres à cames en tête et différentiel à glissement limité en série. Elle erecvait 160 ch de son moteur montant à 8 000 tr/min. Doté d'une carrosserie en acier, la nouvelle venue faisait appel à une boîte Fiat à cinq rapports et à une suspension avant indépendante par triangules et ressorts hélicoïdaux, un essieu arrière rigide et des freins à disque aux quatre roues.
Cette Fiat Dino Spider des débuts de production est équipée du moteur 2 litres en aluminium (le 2,4 litres qui lui succéda était en acier). Elle arbore une livrée verte avec intérieur crème. La voiture a été acquise par l'actuel propriétaire lors d'une vente aux enchères en France en 2015, époque à laquelle le compteur affichait 31 667 km, alors qu'il n'affiche aujourd'hui que 31 684 km, indiquant que la voiture a été peu utilisée ces dernières années. La voiture a passé de nombreuses années au Royaume-Uni alignant cinq propriétaires entre 1979 et 2013 avant d'être vendue en Belgique, le dernier propriétaire anglais l'ayant conservée de 1989 à 2013. La voiture est vendue avec son certificat d'identification pour les véhicules importés associé à son type national français délivré par Fiat France.
