1972 Porsche 911E 2.4-Litre Targa 'Ӧlklappe'
Chassis no. 9112210722
Engine no. 6221475

• Rare 'Ӧlklappe' model
• Last of the 'pre-facelift' 911s
• Matching numbers, chassis and engine
• Original service book
• Remarkable 'time-warp' condition
• Italian registration document

This Porsche 911E Targa has the external filler ('Ölklappe') for the engine's dry-sump oil tank, which was fitted to cars built during 1972 only. Hitherto, the tank had been positioned behind the right rear wheel, but for '72 it was moved forwards in order to improve weight distribution. The tank's hasty return to its original position and the filler's relocation to within the engine bay was prompted by the fact that service station attendants often mistook it for the fuel filler! It is estimated that only 989 examples were made, making the 'Ölklappe' particularly sought after by purists as 'the one to have'.
Delivered through the Arrezzo-based official Porsche and Volkswagen dealer Aretina Motori on 25th July 1972 to the first and only owner, this stunning 911E Targa is offered in remarkable time-warp condition. Never restored, it was even kept inside the house where the first owner's family still lives. On inspection the car appeared delightfully solid and unmolested: the original interior still presents very well; the original steering wheel is still present; and even the carpets would present very well after professional cleaning. The body appears very solid, and the paint, although lightly scratched, would probably respond well to professional restoration and detailing.
According to the family, the Porsche was last used some 25 years ago has been laid up in the garage since then. Careful recommissioning will be required before further use.
Importantly, the car still has its original engine (as recorded in the original service book) and its original Italian libretto from 1972. The odometer currently reads just over 89,000 kilometres. The car is offered with the aforementioned original Italian libretto and service book (in its original plastic pouch); Porsche service network brochure; and original second key with the original numbered key card. This is a wonderful opportunity to become only the second custodian in 52 years of this stunning 911E Targa, and to breath new life into this rare Ӧlklappe model. Close inspection recommended.
