Lot 181

An 1938-40 Alfa-Romeo 158 Alfetta 1:12 scale model by Michele Conti, made in Italy, circa 1960s

An 1938-40 Alfa-Romeo 158 Alfetta 1:12 scale model by Michele Conti, made in Italy, circa 1960s,

believed to be a one-off, scratch-build, constructed of a brass body extremely well crafted with full-engine detail. Contis skill as a metal fabricator features some wonderful detailing in areas of the brakes with simulated suspension, louvers on bonnet, black exhaust pipe with metal heat shield, various metal fittings, and leather trimmed cockpit. The wheels show Conti's progression in how he replicated incredibly accurate wire wheels. The model has a very mild patina, as expected for a model of its age, the paint and numbers are in remarkably good order. Bold red with white numbers in time-warp condition as is the delicate hand painted clover leaf emblem on the hood, which shows no wear. The owner has kept the model in near mint condition with a life in an acrylic case. It is signed on its underside with a Conti wet transfer signature. 15" in length.
