Britain's best-known and longest-surviving bicycle maker, Raleigh also manufactured motorcycles from 1899 to 1905, and again from 1919 to 1933. More recently, the Nottingham company offered a range of mopeds plus a motor scooter in the late 1950s/1960s. The scooter was the Roma, built by Bianchi in Milan, Italy, in whose range it featured as the Orsetto (Bear Cub). The Roma's 78cc two-stroke engine was mounted horizontally beneath the tubular spine frame and drove the rear wheel by means of an enclosed chain. Raleigh offered the Roma from November 1960 to August 1964, by which time the model had evolved through variants RS1, RS2 and RS3. It is estimated that approximately 23,400 Romas were made. Survivors are few.

Offered for restoration and sold strictly as viewed, this incomplete Roma comes with a selection of restoration images (presumably of another machine); a Raleigh Roma Scooter Riding and Maintenance Instruction Book; a workshop manual; and a spare parts list. There is no registration document with this Lot.
