Built by Bracken Motorcycle Workshop, the vendor advises us that this R75/5 boasts an extensively modified standard frame with raised engine mounts for increased ground clearance; a triangulated reinforced top mount added; and offset side brace bars. The engine is an electric-start R75/5 with a capacity of 999cc. Other notable features include the following:

• Braced long-wheelbase swinging arm
• Hagon rear shock absorbers
• Shock absorber-type driveshaft modified to compensate for lifted engine
• 31/11 differential from BMW race shop (ex-Gus Kuhn)
• Ducati 750 forks modified by Maxton
• Ducati 750 front brake calipers
• Front hub with Ducati spindle
• Larger front wheel rim
• Rear wheel offset and spoked to take larger rim and tyre
• Bartel aluminium fuel tank
• One-off engine oil breather tank
• Peckett & McNab seat and tail unit
• Rask rear-sets
• One-off battery tray
• MHP 2-into-2 stainless exhaust system
• One-off racing wiring loom

Enlarged to 999cc capacity, the engine boasts coated cylinders and an 11.0:1 compression ratio, and produces 102bhp at the rear wheel (dynamometer sheets supplied). The cylinder heads have been extensively modified with downdraught inlet ports, 47mm inlet valves, 40mm exhaust valves, and twin-plug ignition with 10mm spark plugs. Other specification details worthy of note include the following:

• Modified crankcase, shortened oil pump feed machined to take a Serck oil cooler
• Extra-deep sump
• Kaiser full-race camshaft
• Crankshaft, con-rods, flywheel and clutch matched and balanced
• BMW K75 pressure plate
• Dell'Orto 42mm carburettors bored out and accelerator pumps removed
• Matched bell mouths
• Gearbox shell strengthened
• Gearbox shafts modified
• All gearbox bearings high grade C3

This BMW was raced by Duncan Watson at the Manx Grand Prix (finisher); by Roger Marchant for two seasons at CRMC, BEMSEE, and BEARS Rounds; and by Torquil Ross-Martin (runner up in the CRMC Unlimited Class). The machine has been stored unused for over 20 years and will therefore require restoration. Sold as seen. CRMC Registration Certificate supplied.
