LOT 170
The Autocar Trophy awarded to Kaye Don for victory at the 1928 RAC International Tourist Trophy,
Kaye Don's victory aboard the 'Hyper' Lea Francis was one of the most famous in this classic era of long distance sports car racing. After an epic drive on the gruelling 13-mile Ards circuit Don just beat Cushman's Alvis into second place by 13 seconds. This very same winning car was later purchased by the Delaney's and further developed to be driven very successfully at Brooklands and in the 1931 TT by Tom. This plaque was given to Tom Delaney by Kaye Don's wife as the natural custodian for this fine piece.
Provenance: See Bonhams 11th July 2008 Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, Lot 194.
