S C H 'Sammy' Davis (1887-1981) 'June 19 1927', formerly the property of Dr Dudley Benjafield,
Driving the Bentley to victory at Le Mans 1927, Dr. Dudley Benjafield and his partner 'Sammy' Davis covered 1,472.527 miles at an average speed of 61.354 mph (98.740 km/h). Motor Sport reported: "The victory, in spite of its accident of the crippled 3-litre Bentley driven by J.D. Benjafield and S.C.H. Davis, will always remain an epic...it is great thing to have won a race with a car which was damaged in the early part of the event."
This painting is by "Bentley Boy" S.C.H Davis of fellow "Bentley Boy" Dudley Benjafield en route to their shared victory in Le Mans 1927. The painting was given by Davis to Dr Benjafield.
