THE 997 TURBO

The 997-generation of the evergreen Porsche 911 arrived in 2004 much to the delight of devoted Porschephiles who found much to dislike about the 996 it succeeded. The 996 was always bound to challenge Porsche's staunchly traditionalist fanbase with its water-cooled engine and controversial "fried egg" headlamp design. The new 997 had fresh, clean, and more familiar styling while evolutionary tweaks to the engine and chassis retained the excellent fundamentals of its predecessor. The legendary Turbo returned as the flagship luxury/grand tourer of the range. With torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive and a 3.6-liter flat six featuring variable turbine turbochargers, two-stage intake, and a thumping 480 horsepower output, it was the grown-up, surefooted alternative to the knife-edge GT3. The 193 mph Turbo Cabriolet returned in 2007, checking all the boxes for those drivers after the ultimate hurricane-in-the-hair experience.

THE CAR OFFERED

Finished in the sophisticated, rarely seen Paint to Sample shade of Macadamia Metallic over Sand Beige full leather trim and a Cocoa cabriolet roof, this distinctive and highly optioned 911 Turbo Cabriolet has covered just over 11,000 miles from new. The accompanying clean Carfax report shows it was originally delivered via MAG Porsche of Dublin, Ohio, remaining in that area for the next ten years, and receiving regular dealer service. In 2021, it was acquired by an overseas collector, exported, and kept in dry storage as part of a private collection.

In keeping with the Turbo's luxurious character, this car is equipped with numerous individual options including Tiptronic S gearbox, heated Adaptive Sport Seats, Carbon Trim Package, sand beige instrument faces, and much more. A color-matched aluminum hardtop allows for all-season enjoyment. On the performance side, this car features the Sports Chrono Pack, providing short bursts of over boost and raising torque output from 460 ft-lbs to a heady 505 ft-lbs.

Far removed from the original "widowmaker" 930 Turbo of the 1970s, the 911 Turbo has matured into one of the finest all-round performance cars of a generation – perfectly happy to doddle down to the shops or blast up to nearly 200 miles per hour all while cosseting passengers in Teutonic luxury and sophistication.
