Footnotes
Mike Hailwood's first significant race victory took place on the Walter Gray Circuit in Port Elizabeth on New Year's Day, 1958. To further Mike's motorcycle-racing education, his father, Stan Hailwood, sent him to South Africa, accompanied by Manchester rider Dave Chadwick and mechanic John Dadley. This trip occurred during the winter following Mike's first racing season. He returned to England with numerous trophies and broken records. Arriving the day before his 18th birthday, he was met with a flurry of media attention, including interviews, endorsements, race offers, and radio recordings. One newspaper even dubbed him 'The Fastest Teenager on Earth. This early award, for one of the all-time great racers, is undoubtedly a significant and important part of Hailwood's career.
All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.
