LOT 139

1970 BSA 175cc Bantam Registration no. UAT 29H Frame no. GC01391B175 Engine no. GC01391 B175

Sold for £1,150 inc. premium

1970 BSA 175cc Bantam
Registration no. UAT 29H
Frame no. GC01391B175
Engine no. GC01391 B175

The BSA Bantam's final incarnation - the D175 with much-revised engine - appeared in 1969. Although at first glance its power unit looked unchanged, the 175 boasted new crankcase and cylinder head castings, the latter with central spark plug, and a stiffer crankshaft assembly among many other more minor modifications. This Bantam 175 displays 27,531 miles to the odometer. The engine turns over, though its mechanical condition is unknown, and will require recommissioning to a greater or lesser extent. Last taxed until March 2004 it is thought the machine has not run since acquisition by the late owner that same year. Offered with a V5C, old V5C, and an MoT certificate that expired in April 2003. Given its long period of inactivity, this Bantam offers a rewarding project for enthusiasts looking to restore a classic British motorcycle to its former glory. Sold as viewed.
