Finished in Snowberry White with white-piped black interior, this MGC Roadster was purchased new by our vendor's late father-in-law - six weeks before his wedding in 1968, for the sum of £3,000, and much to his wife-to-be's disbelief! A tenant farmer on the Sandringham Estate, its first owner was inspired to buy the roadster having seen HRH Prince Charles driving around Norfolk in a blue MGC GT. Since acquisition 'SXE 622G' has made one trip to the Continent to watch Le Mans but otherwise has hardly left Norfolk. The car was given to the vendors as a wedding present and used on their wedding day. The accompanying V5C document shows one former keeper but the MG has never been offered for sale until now.

Kept garaged during the vendor's ownership, the car comes with all receipts for work done since the present ownership commenced in 2012. There is no prior paperwork available. On file is a large bill for £4,000 dating from 2018 for new painted wire wheels; Waxoyl underside; new fan belt; new set of HT leads; new copper brake pipes; and a suspension polybush upgrade. New carpet had been fitted in 2013. The engine's last service was carried out in July 2023 and it is said to be running exceptionally well. Modern safety belts were fitted in 2021; a new single small 12v battery has just been installed; and the overdrive switch was replaced recently. In total approximately £10,300 has been spent since 2012. The car comes complete with wheel hammer; tonneau with two bars; vinyl roof with non-zip window; indoor car cover; and the original handbook. Rarely do single family ownership MG C's come to the open market, this snowberry white example, having covered circa 67,300 miles from new is not to be missed.

Buyers' Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge a Buyer's Premium on the Hammer Price of each Lot purchased and this is subject to VAT. Some lots may also be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price and these lots will be clearly marked with a symbol (†, Ω, *) printed beside the lot number.
For Automobilia the Buyer's Premium is 28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price; 27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,001 up to and including £800,000; 21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,001 up to and including £4,500,000 and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,001.
For Motor Cars and Vehicle Registration Numbers the Buyer's Premium will be 15% on the first £500,000 of the hammer price of each Lot, and 12% on the balance thereafter.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% + VAT of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Buyers Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
