In 1932 Singer introduced one of its fondest remembered and most successful models: the Nine. The Nine's immediate ancestor was the 8hp Junior, a successful high-quality light car powered by a 848cc four-cylinder overhead-camshaft engine. Built from 1932 to 1939, the Nine employed a 972cc 26.5bhp version of this motor in an entirely new chassis. A four-speed freewheel gearbox was standard while both the Nine Sports and the more powerful and faster Nine Le Mans came with hydraulic brakes. The latter had resulted from a successful venture into endurance racing, when a Nine Sports took 13th place in the 1933 Le Mans 24-Hour Race.

This Singer Le Mans was supplied new to Kent County Constabulary headquarters in Maidstone. The car is offered from the collection of the late Nick Baldwin, one of Britain's leading motoring historians and journalists, who sadly passed away on 10th January 2024, aged 78. The Baldwins purchased the Singer on the occasion of Nick's 75th birthday in 2021, inspired by the fact that his parents had worked for The Motor magazine and tested one in period. Its usage has been restricted to club events in recent years.

'DKT 623' had been restored in the 1980s; some bills are available and the history file also contains a V5C document; copies of various bills, drawings, etc; some Singer Owners' Club magazines; and an old-style logbook listing several owners. Described by the vendor as in generally good condition, the car comes complete with jack, copper hammer, starting handle, and twin spare wheels.
