Launched in 1963, the Giulia Sprint GT featured classically stylish four-seater coupé coachwork designed by Carrozzeria Bertone's Giorgetto Giugiaro, though this was now manufactured at Alfa's new factory at Arese. Beneath the skin the new coupé utilised the 105-Series Giulia TI saloon's five-speed manual gearbox, independent front suspension, coil-sprung live rear axle, all round disc brakes (early cars excepted), and 1,570cc engine in up-rated form.

The success of the Giulia 1300 TI saloon, a cheaper alternative to the Giulia 1600 TI, prompted Alfa Romeo to do the same with its Bertone-styled coupé. Introduced in 1966, the GT 1300 Junior looked almost exactly like its big brother but came with the 1,290cc version of Alfa's twin-cam four under the bonnet. The subsequent 1750 version's replacement by the 2000GTV in 1971 left a gap in the range that was filled by the return of a 1.6-litre model, which had been absent since the GTV's demise in 1968. This was the GT 1600 Junior built between 1972 and 1977, initially in two-headlamp form and later with the four-headlamp front end shared with the 2000GTV. Exhilarating driver's cars, the GT range was an immense success for Alfa Romeo, enjoying a 14-year production run lasting until 1977.

This GT 1600 Junior is a UK-registered right-hand drive example that has been garage maintained for the last 25 years. The car underwent a bare-metal restoration and extensive improvements 15 years ago at a cost of over £25,000 and comes with extensive history and numerous receipts. Finished in Gunmetal Grey metallic with black leather interior, it benefits from an undersealed body and is described by our vendor as in very good condition throughout, the body and paint being classed as 'mint'. Other notable features include a new retro sound system with Bluetooth and new speakers; custom security immobiliser; stainless steel GTA air intakes (from Alfaholics); and an Alfaholics programmable electronic ignition distributor. A rare example of the last-of-the-line Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior, featuring the powerful 1,600cc twin-cam engine, pillarless doors and classic Bertone lines, the car comes with a V5C Registration Certificate and the aforementioned restoration and maintenance records.
