In 1978 Porsche built six special Martini Turbos to celebrate the German company's long-standing collaboration with sponsors Martini. These cars had blueprinted engines and were finished in Martini's colours of white, red and blue. They also featured 'Dr Fuhrmann' seats, designed by the eponymous doctor (Porsche's technical director) to have orthopaedic benefits for the occupants. Considered too expensive for production, the Fuhrmann seats were only ever used for these six cars.

Our vendor has two Martini Turbos - the other (white) example is in this sale - which are believed to be the only full-specification cars of the six. This unique black Martini Turbo was originally ordered by Mr. Al Sharif Omar Almandily c/o The Hilton Hotel London, who insisted that the car had to be black with matching leather interior, including headlining, and paid a premium for it - almost £79,000! Right-hand drive, it was built to Porsche's Special Wishes Order and features the aforementioned blueprinted engine; air conditioning; electric sunroof; limited-slip differential; recoil bumpers; and 'Dr Fuhrmann' seats in black leather. Recognised by the Porsche Museum in Germany, it is the only black Martini model ever produced out of a total of six built (source: Porsche Club GB).

Purchased in 1993 at 21,000 miles, the Porsche has been part of the owner's private collection for the last 21 years. This car has covered only 28,000 miles in its lifetime and is like new. Like the white Martini Turbo we offer, it has been immaculately cared for and maintained and comes with a full service history. Kept on display in dehumidified accommodation, the car has just been fully serviced and MoT'd. Described by our vendor as in original and 'A'-rated condition throughout, it comes with the original purchase invoice, colour brochure, V5C Registration Certificate, current MoT, unused tool kit, jack, and the aforementioned full history of works carried out, mileages, events attended, concours awards won (12 listed from 1994-1999).
