"Apart from being very fast and exciting, the Porsche is a practical car. Unlike most rivals which can be regarded as Sunday morning adrenalin pumps because of their intractability, or cramped accommodation, the Turbo can be used as comfortable daily transport. Yet its handling and roadholding are probably as good as any other car in the world. Few, if any, cars have impressed us so much." - Motor magazine, 8th November 1975.

In 1978 Porsche built six special Martini Turbos to celebrate the German company's long-standing collaboration with sponsors Martini. These cars had blueprinted engines and were finished in Martini's colours of white, red and blue (apart from the solitary black example). They also featured 'Dr Fuhrmann' seats, designed by the eponymous doctor (Porsche's technical director) to have orthopaedic benefits for the occupants. Considered too expensive for production, the Fuhrmann seats were only used for these six cars.

Our vendor has two Martini Turbos - the other (black) example is in this sale - which are believed to be the only full-specification cars of the six, making this one the only such example in white. Right-hand drive, the car was built to Porsche's Special Wishes Order and features the aforementioned blueprinted engine and 'Dr Fuhrmann' seats in red/white/blue leather. As recognised by the Porsche Museum in Germany, this white Turbo was displayed at the 1978 Earls Court Motor Show and then joined Porsche's UK press fleet. It has covered 138,000 miles from new, has been driven on every UK racetrack, and comes with the related documentation.

The Porsche has been part of the owner's private collection for the last 20 years. Like the black Martini Turbo we offer, it has been immaculately cared for and maintained. The engine has been rebuilt using original components and the chassis/body always Waxoyled. Kept on display in dehumidified accommodation, the car has just been fully serviced and MoT'd. Described by our vendor as in original and unrestored condition throughout ('A'-rated apart from the patinated interior), it is offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, V5C Registration Certificate, current MoT and full service history.
