THE CAR OFFERED
Plymouth's intermediate line, which included the Belvedere, Road Runner, and Satellite, got a significant refresh in 1970, gaining a handsome new look with revised fenders, hood, grille, and bumpers. The most focused performance car of the line was the Roadrunner, which could be equipped with a range of options from mild to wild.
This 1970 Roadrunner Hardtop offered from the Golden State Muscle Car Collection is a V-code example, featuring the 440 6-Pack V8, Coyote Duster intake, and rare 4-speed manual. This car was sold new by Spoerlein's Garage in the curiously named town of Accident, Maryland. It was reportedly in original ownership until 1988 and has subsequently been restored to original colors and specifications.
Finished in a fabulous black livery (code TX9) with a slick roof (no vinyl) and black interior, it features the optional Road Runner stripes – a cheeky nod to the Warner Bros. cartoon series. The interior is faithfully restored in the correct black and grey-trimmed vinyl, and features a bench seat, original-style radio, and Pistol Grip shifter. Documentation includes copies of the original broadcast sheet, original dealer invoice, and ownership history.
Rarely seen in this specification, this Roadrunner is sure to be a welcome addition to any Mopar or muscle car enthusiast's garage. Just watch out for those Coyote-powered Mustangs...
