THE CAR OFFERED
For 1963, Chrysler offered its renowned 300 in two lines – the flagship 'Letter Series' 300J, and the lower-priced 300 Sport. However, there was a lesser-known special edition positioned between the two known as the Pacesetter, which was based on the 300 Sport, but loaded with luxury equipment and special badging in honor of Chrysler's selection as the official pace car for that year's Indianapolis 500.
While Chrysler offered a special turquoise paint scheme, the Pacesetter could also be had in an array of other colors. The Chrysler 300 Sport offered here from the Golden State Muscle Car Collection is a factory Pacesetter convertible, as noted by the '8033' VIN prefix. Finished in a striking Festival Red over Oyster White livery, with matching two-tone leather upholstery, it features a host of options, including factory air conditioning, bucket seats, center console, a power-operated soft top. In addition to the special badging, the Pacesetter also got a distinctive square steering wheel – combined with the pushbutton controls for the Torqueflite automatic and factory radio, help make the cabin a pure mid-century Jet Age experience.
The subject of a well-detailed older restoration, this rare Chrysler Pacesetter has been preserved in excellent condition, with attractive cosmetics that highlight its unique style.
