Offered here is a top-of-the-range Porsche 911S Targa on the short wheelbase; an early 'soft window' car running on carburettors and with the correct green instrument dials. This car was sold new in March 1967 via the Porsche dealer Glöckler in Frankfurt, Germany to Commander Daniel Wallstein, an American Engineer Manager serving with the US Army in Europe (copy of purchase invoice on file). Delivered new in Germany, the Porsche was a Tourist Delivery order, to be collected from the factory by the owner and destined for eventual use abroad, in this case the USA. The car was ordered new in Polo Red with Recaro sport seats in black leatherette (still fitted and in magnificent condition) and a Becker Europa radio for good measure.
Mr Wallstein drove the car around Frankfurt in the summer of 1967 and then returned it to Glöckler for a service. In September 1967 the car came back to the Porsche factory for body repairs after a minor accident (well documented). At that time - just months after its delivery - the car was fully resprayed at the Porsche Factory in the desirable Bahama Yellow (the original Polo Red is still visible beneath the current paint). The car was ready at the end of October; a copy of the invoice dated 20.10.1967 is on file together with correspondence regarding the accident.
In November 1967 Mr Wallstein shipped the Porsche to sunny California where it has spent most of its life in the dry climate, resulting in the incredibly good state of preservation we see it in today. The bill of lading is on file and Daniel Wallstein meticulously also kept all the yearly registration cards and a nice history file on his beloved 911 Targa. In October 1975 the Porsche popped up in Brussels, Belgium, still owned by Mr Wallstein, who now lived in Waterloo, Belgium. An invoice for work carried out by Porsche importer D'Ieteren dated October 1975 is on file. The car was insured and road-registered in Belgium at the same time. It would make frequent returns to D'Ieteren (invoices on file).
In the early 1980s Mr Wallstein took this beloved 'soft window' back to California. The recorded mileage in 1985 was 97,872. Remaining in California, the car did not change hands until 2005 it is believed. In 2016 the Porsche returned to Europe, still in extremely well-preserved condition and with a lovely original interior. The car has never been restored, only resprayed in 1967, but never stripped back to bare metal. Always well cared for, it is one of the few survivors that has never had a full restoration, and is even rarer in retaining its nicely preserved original Recaro sports seats, the latter being practically impossible to find.
German TüV was issued in 2016, and in 2019 a valuation report confirmed the car's originality and lists a market value of €340.000. We have had the opportunity to drive the Porsche and it performs incredibly well, just as original and unrestored cars do, being responsive to the throttle and with light steering, the latter being one of the major advantages of these early cars compared to later 911s. The car comes with the following:
Books including original service book, tools, pouch, etc
US Title with EU taxes paid
Copy of purchase invoice from new
Copy of Tourist Delivery order
Copy of invoice for respray in Bahama Yellow in October 1967
Invoices for work carried out
Correspondence, road registration cards, etc, etc
Copy of old Belgian registration document dated 1981
A rare and desirable 1st-series short-wheel base Porsche 911S 'soft window' Targa sitting on its correct small Fuchs wheels, finished in striking Bahama Yellow from the factory since it was a few months old, this exceptional car is worthy of the closest inspection by any collector.

Livret d'entretien d'origine, trousse à outils, etc
Immatriculations américaines avec taxes européennes acquittées
Facture d'achat neuve
Correspondance, cartes d'immatriculation, etc, etc
