Footnotes

Officially launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, the Mercedes-AMG GT is historically significant as only the second sports car developed entirely by Affalterbach-based AMG, the first being the SLS AMG. Styled in house by a team headed by Robert Lešnik, the Mercedes-AMG GT restated the traditional 'long bonnet, small cabin, short tail' sports car look in a manner suggesting muscular horsepower while retaining all the elegance associated with Mercedes-Benz. Although it used conventional doors rather than the SLS's 'Gullwing' type - the latter first seen on the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL coupé of the 1950s - the GT featured numerous styling references to its illustrious distant ancestor and was an instant hit with the public.

Boasting a chassis/body of mainly aluminium construction, the GT is powered by a hand-built M178 V8 engine. Positioned well back in the wheelbase for better weight distribution, this might power plant produces 469bhp in the mainstream model with 515 horsepower on tap in the AMG GT S, as seen here. The transmission consists of a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox incorporated into a rear transaxle, again with ideal weight distribution in mind (Mercedes claim what it calls an optimum 47/53% front/rear split). Other key mechanical differences the GT S gains over the GT include an electronically controlled limited-slip differential; 'Race Mode' and 'Race Start' settings in the AMG Dynamic Select adaptive drive-train; AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension; and an AMG Performance Exhaust System. The AMG GT S Edition 1, a limited edition, was introduced in 2015 with a host of extras including aero kit, a static rear spoiler and polished alloy wheels. Only 375 examples were built worldwide.

One of the very first examples built and an instant collectible at the time of its launch, this pristine AMG GT S Edition 1 was delivered new in Belgium in December 2014 to our vendor, a passionate Mercedes-Benz collector. A believed very early 'Edition 1', it was intended as a collectible addition to the owner's prominent Mercedes-Benz collection and was therefore not registered for the first time until November 2017. Displayed in the vendor's collection and always kept on charge and stored on tyre-cushions, it has covered only some 129 kilometres from new (the first service has yet to be carried out) and is presented in effectively 'as new' condition. The car was ordered in Designo Diamond White with Dinamica Black Nappa leather interior, and left the factory equipped with following options among others:

Edition 1
Reversing camera
Lane assist package
Ashtray
COMAND (Cockpit Management and Data system)
Adaptive high beam assist
Designo roof cladding in Dinamica Black
Pre-equipment for battery charger
Immobilizer
Burmester surround sound system (10 loudspeakers)
AMG protective cover for interior
Keyless-go package
Mirror package
Alarm system pack
AMG entrance with LED illumination
Separation net for boot

Badged 'Edition 1' on the central console, it is one of the desirable 375 example built.

Offered by its sole owner, this rare and highly desirable Mercedes-AMG supercar comes complete with its original books; two keys; Belgian registration documents (dated 08/2018); and a European Certificate of Conformity (CoC).
