One of the founding firms of the British motor industry, Daimler was part of the expanding BSA group by 1911. By this time the adoption of the refined 'Silent Knight' sleeve-valve engine had done much to turn around the company's fortunes and establish Daimler as a marque committed to engineering excellence, a policy which continued in the 1920s with the introduction of the 'Double-Six' – Britain's first V12. Its traditional characteristics had long endeared the marque to the nobility, and indeed, in pre-war years the company's products were preferred by the British Royal Family to those of rivals Rolls-Royce.

This Daimler 15hp tourer was originally supplied by John Hutton & Sons in Dublin - Ireland's premier coachbuilder – and first registered on 21st June 1911 in Longford, Ireland. Unfortunately, surviving records do not show whom its first purchaser was, although subsequently the car was owned by a Mrs Pearse of Main Street, Longford. Other owners include Roger Muirhead, W Bangham of Toddington, and Ron Harris of Gillingham.
The Daimler was purchased by the vendor's father (now deceased) from vintage and veteran car dealers Peter Harper & Co in 2005 for £41,000.

Works completed since the Daimler's purchase by the vendor's father include a complete rebuild of the 2.6-litre four-cylinder sleeve-valve engine by Henal Engineering. There are invoices on file for the rebuild, which included making casting patterns; casting and machining of new cylinder blocks and heads; and sundry other works. Associated bills total in excess of £68,000. In addition, the magneto was reconditioned by Armoto at a cost of £500.

Restoration works carried out by previous owners include repairs to the hood and floor by Timbercraft (£840); interior retrim by Tarrant Valley Trimming (£17,940); gearbox refurbishment by CMG Design & Engineering (£2,292). The very large file contains invoices for these works and numerous others, and the car also comes with a V5C document and VCC Dating Certificate (No. 2082).
