Despatched new to Italy, this rare Daimler Majestic Major is body number '120' of 864 built. Swiss motor dealer Lukas Huni acquired the Daimler in 2005 from 'a large private classic car collection in Italy, where the car spent most of its time'. Huni sold the car to the previous owner, a Chinese businessman, who shipped it from Switzerland to Hong Kong. The car remained in HK for several years and there are numerous receipts on file from this period amounting to over $20,000, plus photographs of the Daimler at a Hong Kong car show. In 2012 the previous owner shipped the car to the UK where it remained in storage for eight years. Our vendor purchased the Daimler in 2020 and has used it for car for shows and events, including 700-mile round trips to Le Mans Classic in 2022 and 2023.
The car is said to be completely original and the odometer reading of 76,000 kilometres (approximately 47,000 miles) is believed genuine. The braking system has been completely overhauled with new discs, pads, pipework, servo and master cylinder, while the bodywork is described as very good with no rust. The chassis is reportedly in excellent condition, benefiting from new underseal throughout. The engine, gearbox and drivetrain are said to perform very well. The car comes with a comprehensive history file; photocopy handbook; original warning triangle, jack and tools; and two worn spare tyres/tubes. The only faults notified are a minor engine oil leak and some play in the steering linkage.

Buyers' Premium and Charges
Like the vast majority of auctioneers Bonhams charge a Buyer's Premium on the Hammer Price of each Lot purchased and this is subject to VAT. Some lots may also be subject to VAT on the Hammer Price and these lots will be clearly marked with a symbol (†, Ω, *) printed beside the lot number.
For Automobilia the Buyer's Premium is 28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price; 27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,001 up to and including £800,000; 21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,001 up to and including £4,500,000 and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,001.
For Motor Cars and Vehicle Registration Numbers the Buyer's Premium will be 15% on the first £500,000 of the hammer price of each Lot, and 12% on the balance thereafter.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% + VAT of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Buyers Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated.
