c. 1948 Velocette 125cc LE
Registration no. WYJ 841
Frame no. 2566
Engine no. 3541/3

The LE (or "Little Engine") Velo was launched in October 1948 and was somewhat revolutionary, with its water cooled, flat twin two stroke engine and shaft drive. Its weather protection, panniers and glove box aimed the machine at a non-motorcyclist audience, and it came with an impressive specification for a small bike at the time. Model updates kept the LE in production for 23 years until manufacturing ceased in 1971. This early Mk1 example is largely complete and retains the manufacturer's plate and early model features (the Mk11 was launched in 1950). It requires a rider's saddle and appears part restored. The papers with the bike show a recorded mileage of 283 when it was last MOTed in 1997, currently showing 544 miles to the odometer (not warranted), presumably since it was last restored. The HPI Report suggests the machine was previously registered HBM 167 and shows the last change of keeper in 1997. Offered for restoration.
