OK - the 'Supreme' came later - was founded by bicycle manufacturer Humphries & Dawes, of Birmingham. The company experimented with powered two-wheelers in the 20th Century's early years before exhibiting a Precision-engined range in 1911. When Charles Dawes and Ernie Humphries split in 1926, the latter continued motorcycle production using the name 'OK-Supreme'. During the late 1930s the factory offered a JAP-powered overhead-valve 245cc single in a number of forms from a standard utility model to a super sport variant with differences in specification dictated by the specific model's intended role, all bearing the name 'Flying Cloud'.
This 'hi-cam' Flying Cloud has been partially restored by the current vendor's grandfather, who left it to his grandson when he passed away. A letter on file from previous owner Mr Michael Fanstone states that he had accumulated parts for the OK over many years before selling the uncompleted project to the vendor's grandfather in 2016. He also states that the frame number does not match that in the accompanying old-style buff logbook; thus this motorcycle must be considered unregistered. The machine's mechanical condition, completeness and correctness are not known and thus it is sold strictly as viewed. The accompanying documents folder contains a substantial quantity of marque-related literature (instruction manual, parts lists, copy brochure) and two copies of The Book of the JAP.
