1982 Laverda RGS1000
Registration no. FVL 960K
Frame no. LAV1000RGS*1058*
Engine no. LAV1000 RGS *1058*

A revised, less peaky version of the new-for-'82 120-degree Jota engine distinguished the RGS from Laverda's other 1,000cc triples, though the most obvious difference was the aerodynamic half-fairing that blended smoothly into the generously sized fuel tank. Less obvious was the lowered frame and altered steering geometry that made the RGS more stable and easier to handle than its predecessors; it was much quieter too, yet the more restrictive silencers had seemingly little effect on the performance of a machine that, even in its new 'civilised' form, could still reach 140mph and race through the standing quarter mile in a little over 12 seconds.

Previously used overseas, this RGS was first registered in the UK in 2012 and appears highly original and well presented, although we are advised that there is a small dent in the tank. The machine was acquired by the vendor in 2012 from marque specialist Phil Todd (of Motodd exhaust systems) who was one of Slater Brothers' UK Laverda agents. Last taxed in 2014 and last run approximately two years ago, the machine will require recommissioning before returning to the road. Currently displaying a total of 22,907 kilometres (approximately 14,200 miles) on the odometer, this RGS is offered with the 2012 purchase receipt; a VMCC dating letter; a V5C document; and two expired MoTs (2013 and 2014). Detached side badge included.

All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding.

Saleroom notices
