Registration no. LSK 600

Engine no. KSS 9001
Introduced for the 1936 season, the MkII KSS represented a major re-design of Velocette's top-of-the-range overhead-camshaft roadster. The MkII featured many improvements including a new aluminium-alloy cylinder head with enclosed valve gear (which replaced the old cast-iron 'head with exposed springs) together with the cradle frame and heavyweight Webb forks of the new MSS.
Previously registered '10 RWP', this MkII KSS was purchased by the current vendor from the Stafford auction in April 1992. Referring to when the machine had last been auctioned in October 1989, the sale catalogue described it thus: "Condition throughout was remarkably original and the bike was the subject of a documented restoration." Formerly in the Gangbridge Collection at the Totnes Motor Museum (from 1971), the Velo had been sold at that 1989 auction to Mr Raymond Paterson of Dundee, the immediately preceding owner. When purchased in 1992 the machine needed a fair amount of engine work, which our vendor attended to. 'LSK 600' has not been ridden for at least 4-5 years and will require recommissioning before returning to the road. Prior to being laid up, the KSS was regularly maintained by the enthusiast owner and is only being sold due to his advancing years. Offered with instruction books and a comprehensive history file. Close inspection highly recommended.
