In 1965, BSA introduced the Lightning Clubman. It was a limited run of machines which were effectively a 'homologation special' to qualify for production racing, and stayed in the BSA list for only one year. Exponents with the Clubman were the likes of Mike Hailwood and Tony Smith. Inevitably, genuine ones are rare, and consequently a number of replicas have been crafted over the years. UHA 712H is one of those, and, starting with an original 1969 A65 Lightning, the owner has made a beautiful machine, which has many features of the original, and looks every inch a racer.
The wheels were rebuilt with stainless steel rims and spokes, a professional rewire was carried out, incorporating electronic ignition, separate fuses for each circuit, and a lithium battery. The frame was blasted and repainted, the petrol tank and side panels were repainted, and the engine was rebuilt with anything needed being refurbished or replaced. The instruments were restored, and new tyres were fitted. The vendor will have a fresh MoT for the machine prior to the sale, and advises that the bike will be ready for a new owner to use.
Documentation consists of a current V5C, the aforementioned MoT certificate, and some invoices.
Offered with key
