Estimate: £4,000 - £5,000

1958 Moto Parilla 125cc
Registration no. 391 UXU
Frame no. 870897
Engine no. 870897

Giovanni Parrilla built his first motorcycle in 1946, dropping his surname's second 'r' to call the machine a Parilla. Parilla's first motorcycle was a 250cc overhead-camshaft single-cylinder racer, and the firm went on to build a range of lightweight machines using two-stroke and four-stroke engines. At the 1952 Milan Show Parilla introduced the 'high cam' (camme rialzata) model for which it is best remembered. This 175cc single featured a chain-driven camshaft mounted on the side of the cylinder head, the valves being operated via short pushrods. Models in other capacities followed.

Presented in good condition, this 125 Parilla was first registered in the UK in October 2006 and has had two former keepers. The current vendor purchased the machine at a UK auction in 2018. Accompanying paperwork includes sundry invoices; spare parts catalogue, factory brochure; copy old and current V5C documents; and a selection of motorcycle magazines.
